Shortlist announced for the 2015 European Sport Tourism Awards

The shortlist has been announced for the Shannon Group European Sport Tourism Awards which attracted over 200 nominations from across Europe and Ireland. BDO are proud business advisors to the event and recognise the important role that sports tourism plays in our economy both at a local and national level.

The 15 categories  are designed to celebrate and reward innovation and achievement  from events, destinations and venues which have made outstanding contributions to the sport tourism industry across Europe.

A winner in each category will be chosen from the shortlist by a judging panel made up of industry experts including Pol O Conghaile, travel editor with the Irish Independent, Miriam Kennedy Failte Ireland, Andrew Murphy Shannon Group, Mike Laflin Sportcal and Mark O’Connell W2 Consulting.

The award winners will be announced at the an awards ceremony on Thursday 14th May in King Johns Castle, Limerick. MC at the event will be Dave McIntyre, Newstalk ‘Off the Ball’, TV3, Setanta Sports and Sky Sports commentator who will also discuss the Rugby World Cup 2015 with past & present Ireland Rugby Captains Keith Wood & Paul O’Connell
